Many of us have study buddies, workout partners, club/party crew, office husbands/wives, best friends, and other classifications. But... who is your "mental health buddy" to ensure you're mentally doing well?!
Don't be afraid to ask someone... "Are you okay?!" And then, listen!
This simple question could be the difference between someone suffering (needlessly alone) instead of getting help to start to feel and be better. Also, read my article "Helping Someone Who Might Be Depressed" for additional guidance.
You don't want to ask this reflective question..."What if I had... (fill in the blank)?!" ...after it's too late.
If you see or think someone might be acting differently, struggling, or hurting themselves, then "act now" before it's too late. It's better to be proven wrong versus hoping you're right --- and losing the gamble!
It's because my brother (Johnnie) asked this question in March 2014... I'm still alive after being moments from ending my life by suicide.
Anyone who has mental health challenges isn't alone --- even though sometimes it might feel that way. Remember... there's always someone somewhere who is ready and willing to help!
